Storage Location

1. Business Scenario Examples

For companies, the Warehouse is a critical logistics node, and Bin (storage location) planning is a key factor affecting warehouse efficiency. Bin planning should consider multiple factors, including Warehouse layout, types of Products and their storage requirements, and inbound/outbound workflows. Proper planning maximizes Warehouse space utilization, reduces storage costs, and improves logistics efficiency.

In operations, Bin management covers a series of actions such as storing materials, picking for outbound, and relocating inventory. ShareCRM’s Bin management helps companies manage Warehouses and Bins in real time, including Inventory Check, Bin adjustments, and product relocations. Fine-grained Warehouse and Bin management improves Inventory accuracy and reduces operational errors.

2. Enabling Bin Management

  • Bin management is disabled by default. Go to CRM Management -> Business Rule Management -> Inventory Management -> Basic Settings to enable Bin Management.
  • You can enable Bin Management in either self-managed mode or ERP-integrated mode.
  • Once Bin Management is enabled, it cannot be disabled.

3. Creating a New Bin

  • Bin is a Sub-object of Warehouse.
  • When creating a new Warehouse, if the Enable Bin Management field is set to No, the Bin Sub-object does not display; the Warehouse creation logic remains unchanged.
  • When creating a new Warehouse, if the Enable Bin Management field is set to Yes, the Bin Sub-object appears. A Warehouse can have multiple Bins; add a row to create a new Bin. You can enter a Bin Code manually for each Bin.
  • Within the same Warehouse, Bin Codes must be unique. Bin Names under the same Warehouse must also be unique.
  • For Warehouses with Bin Management enabled, you may leave Bins empty when creating the Warehouse, but Bins must be specified later during inbound operations.

4. Assigning Specific Bin on Inbound (Inbound Order)

  • When creating an Inbound Order, if the selected Warehouse has Bin Management enabled, you must select a Bin in each Inbound Order line.
  • Different lines on the same Inbound Order may use different Bins.
  • No Inventory validation is required during inbound.
  • After a successful inbound, the system increases the Inventory quantity for the corresponding Product and the Inventory quantity for the selected Bin.

5. Assigning Specific Bin on Shipping & Outbound (Shipping Order / Outbound Order)

  • When creating Shipping Orders, Outbound Orders, or other outbound documents, if the selected Warehouse has Bin Management enabled, you must select a Bin on each Shipping/Outbound line.
  • Different lines on the same Shipping/Outbound document can select different Bins for outbound.
  • Inventory validation runs during outbound. The system validates the Inventory quantity at the selected Bin. The Bin’s Inventory quantity must be greater than or equal to the Shipping/Outbound quantity to pass validation.
  • After a successful outbound, the system decreases the Inventory quantity for the corresponding Product and the Inventory quantity for the selected Bin.
