Sales Record FAQs
1. Difference Between Sales Records and Follow-Up Activity
- Follow-Up Activity refers to interactions and follow-up information recorded during the sales process with customers or other business objects, including sales records, Report, approvals, tasks, etc. It is a functional module on an object’s detail page.
- Sales Record is a record created during customer service and follow-up; it is a way to store such records.
- On an object detail page → Follow-Up Activity → Post, you can currently only post Sales Records. Posting other content types (Report, approvals, etc.) is not supported yet, but you can view all content types (Report, approvals, etc.) and use filtering and categorization.
2. I have data access to the Account (Opportunity, Leads, etc.) but I cannot see Sales Records posted by other members in Follow-Up Activity
The permissions for Sales Records in an Account’s Follow-Up Activity come from Feed permissions and the Account data permissions (for details, see “How to Use Sales Records”).
If you can access Follow-Up Activity but cannot see Sales Records posted by other Related Teams members: Please first use the Data Permission Inspector to check where the current user’s access to the Account comes from, then check the following situations in order. Note: do not check the permissions on the Sales Record itself.
- Situation 1: If the current user is listed in the Account’s Related Teams, go to Preset Objects → Account → Related Teams Data Permissions and verify whether the Role’s Follow-Up Activity permission is set to Disabled. If Disabled, the user cannot see Sales Records posted by others in Follow-Up Activity. Change it to Read-Only to allow viewing.
- Situation 2: If the current user accesses the Account because they inherit Related Teams membership through a subordinate, check whether that subordinate’s Related Teams data permission is Disabled. If Disabled, the current user cannot see Sales Records posted by others in Follow-Up Activity.
- Situation 3: If the current user gains access to the Account via data sharing, check whether the organization is under a feature flag that disables sharing of Follow-Up Activity on detail pages. If that feature flag is applied, data sharing will not allow viewing Sales Records posted by others in Follow-Up Activity.

3. Field Layout Display for Sales Records in Follow-Up Activity / Feeds
- Before clicking “Show More”, the mobile summary layout applies: Preset Objects → Sales Record → Layouts → Mobile Summary Layout.
- After clicking “Show More”, the detail page layout applies: Preset Objects → Sales Record → Layouts → Detail Page Layout.
- Because the layout before and after “Show More” differs, displayed fields may differ. Configure fields per layout in the admin Layout settings.
4. After clearing the Account from a Sales Record, the Account still appears on the Sales Record detail page — why?
Reason: The Account field shown on the Sales Record list page is a lookup field (Lookup to Account), while the Account field on the detail page is a Related To (Related To) field (association to business data). These are different fields. Therefore, after clearing the lookup Account on the list, the detail page may still display the Account via the Related To field.

5. Lookup fields in Sales Records automatically populate the Related To field
Example: The Related To field type is “dynamic relation” (Figure 1); the Account field type is “lookup” (Figure 2). When creating a new Follow-Up Activity (Sales Record), the Account lookup value (Figure 3) automatically populates into the Related To business data field (Figure 4).

6. How to troubleshoot not seeing other team members’ Sales Records or Reports in Follow-Up Activity
Check the Account’s Related Teams Data Permissions for the Role settings (Owner, Regular Member, Co-Followers, After-Sales Personnel) and confirm whether Follow-Up Activity (View all Sales Records of the Account) has been enabled as Read-Only.
7. Can you set reviewers for Sales Records?
No. Sales Records do not support setting reviewers. Only Report supports setting reviewers.
8. Can you add pre-validation functions to Sales Record buttons?
Currently the admin does not support adding pre-validation functions to buttons on the Sales Record object.
9. I am the Owner of an Account but do not have permission to create Sales Records. Can I create a Sales Record for that Account?
No. The ability to create a Sales Record depends on whether you have the Sales Record object’s Create business function permission.
10. Does Sales Record import support update-by-import?
No. Sales Record import supports only creating new records. Import does not support updating existing records.
