Channel Warehouse

Business Use Case Examples

Warehouses are an indispensable part of the channel transaction process. In channel management scenarios, brand manufacturers typically allocate corresponding channel warehouses to distributors, where a single distributor may operate multiple warehouses across different regions.

After purchasing products from the brand manufacturer, distributors store these products in their designated warehouses. Effective channel warehouse management enables distributors to track product receipts, shipments, returns, and Inventory levels, facilitating better oversight of channel operations and improving overall efficiency.

Creating a New Channel Warehouse

picture coming soon:

  • When creating a new channel Warehouse, you must specify the “Associated Distributor” by linking it to the “Partner” object, which can be selected from the available Partners.
  • Only one default Warehouse can be set during creation; non-default Warehouses can have multiple instances.
  • The first Warehouse created is automatically designated as the default Warehouse.
  • For subsequent Warehouses, you can choose whether to set them as the default during creation.
  • If multiple channel Warehouses exist, you can modify the default Warehouse by editing the Warehouse settings.

Configuring Applicable Users, Departments, and Accounts for Channel Warehouses

  • By default, Warehouse data permissions are set to public but can be restricted to private.
  • Applicable users and Departments for a Warehouse only take effect when creating a new channel Sales Order.
  • When creating a channel Sales Order, users must be within the Warehouse’s applicable user or Department scope to place orders from that Warehouse.
  • Similarly, the Account must be within the Warehouse’s applicable Account scope to place orders from that Warehouse.
  • These two conditions operate on an “AND” basis—both must be satisfied simultaneously.
