Configure Data Permissions for Related Teams

Record-level data permissions: To allow a user to access a specific record, add them to that record’s Related Teams.

  • The Account and Opportunity objects support adding team Roles for members: Co-Owner, After-sales, and Member (default). You can assign read-only or read/write access on related business objects based on the team Role.
  • Team members with the Co-Owner or After-sales Roles can be granted special data permissions.
  • Co-Owners and After-sales Roles on an Opportunity have special operational privileges within the sales process.
  • Opportunity Co-Owner: can perform pre-sales process actions.
  • Opportunity After-sales: can perform post-sales process actions.

Other object team member types are divided into Owner and Member.

  • Owner: holds the highest level of permission for the record and may perform any operation that the user’s functional permissions and the applicable business conditions allow (except for a few special operations).
  • Member: has either Read-only or Read/write access. Read-only: view only. Read/write: may edit the record but cannot change the Owner.

Note: If a Related Teams member’s permission is set to Read/write on the source record, the permissions on associated objects still depend on the source team member’s permissions. If the source team member is assigned Read-only, the related object’s permission will also be Read-only.
