Equipment Asset BOM (OBOM)
1. Business Scenario Overview
Device Asset BOM, also referred to as OBOM (Operational Bill of Materials), centers on the hierarchical structure of an OBOM device. It organizes detailed lists of the device’s key components and records generated during maintenance and repair activities. OBOM provides a more accurate and realistic reflection of a device’s operational condition and supports scenarios such as device maintenance and repair management.
2. Enabling Device Asset BOM
picture coming soon:
- Device Asset BOM is also called OBOM. This feature must be enabled manually. Path to enable: Service Connector -> System Settings -> Device Management -> Device Asset BOM.
- Once enabled, Device Asset BOM cannot be disabled.
- After enabling Device Asset BOM, the system initializes the Device Asset BOM object (API name: DeviceComponentsObj).
- The Device Asset BOM must be associated with a device; it primarily manages the composition of sub-devices/components under a device.
3. Maintaining Device Asset BOM
picture coming soon:
- A Configure OBOM button is added on the device record page. Click it to configure the Device Asset BOM.
- Currently, you can only configure Device Asset BOM from the device detail page button. You cannot create or import data directly from the Device Asset BOM object.

- The root node of a device BOM must be associated with a device; it cannot be associated with a Product.
- Child nodes of a device BOM can be associated with either a device or a Product.
- If the current node is a device, you may add child devices or child Products. If the current node is a Product, you may only add child Products (you cannot add child devices).
picture coming soon:
- If you add a child device, the system automatically fills in the child device’s root device and parent device fields.
- When selecting a child device, the component quantity for that device is fixed at 1.
- If the device has serial number management enabled, selecting the device will automatically populate the device’s serial number.
- After adding, the system automatically maintains the corresponding hierarchy.
picture coming soon:
- If you add a child Product, the system automatically fills in the child Product’s root device and parent device fields.
- When selecting a child Product: if the Product does not have serial number management enabled, you can enter the component quantity; if the Product has serial number management enabled, the component quantity is fixed at 1.
- After adding, the system automatically maintains the corresponding hierarchy.
