Equipment Asset BOM (OBOM)

1. Business Scenario Overview

The Equipment Asset BOM, also known as OBOM (Operational Bill of Materials), centers on the hierarchical structure of operational equipment. It organizes key core components, maintenance records, and other operational data associated with the equipment. This provides an accurate and real-time reflection of the equipment’s operational status, supporting maintenance and repair management scenarios.

2. Enabling Equipment Asset BOM

picture coming soon:

  • The Equipment Asset BOM (or OBOM) must be manually enabled. Navigate to: Service Connector > System Settings > Equipment Management > Equipment Asset BOM.
  • Once enabled, the Equipment Asset BOM cannot be disabled.
  • Enabling the feature initializes the Equipment Asset BOM object (API name: DeviceComponentsObj).
  • The Equipment Asset BOM must be linked to equipment and primarily manages sub-equipment/component hierarchies under the parent device.

3. Managing Equipment Asset BOM

  • A Configure OBOM button is added to the equipment detail page. Click it to configure the Equipment Asset BOM.
  • Currently, the BOM can only be configured via this button—direct creation or data import in the BOM object is not supported.

  • The root node of the Equipment BOM must be linked to equipment, not Products. Sub-nodes can link to either equipment or Products.
  • If the current node is equipment, you can add sub-equipment or sub-products. If it’s a Product, only sub-products can be added.

  • When adding sub-equipment:
    • The system auto-populates the root and parent equipment fields.
    • The component quantity is fixed at 1 for sub-equipment.
    • If serial number management is enabled for the equipment, the serial number is auto-filled.
    • The system maintains hierarchical relationships automatically.

  • When adding sub-products:
    • The system auto-populates the root and parent equipment fields.
    • For sub-products without serial number management, you can specify the component quantity. If serial number management is enabled, the quantity is fixed at 1.
    • The system maintains hierarchical relationships automatically.
