1.1 Use Cases
A heatmap uses color intensity to show the magnitude of values across two dimensions within a data range. For example, it can compare the number of Accounts across different industries and Account tiers.

1.2 Chart Configuration
1.2.1 Axis Data
- Dimensions: 2 dimensions
- Metrics: 1 metric

1.2.2 Styling (Web)
1.2.2.1 Basic Info
- Chart name: When created, defaults to the analysis Subject name; you can rename it to a custom chart name.

- Notes:
- Note content: Add contextual notes for the current chart so viewers better understand what the chart conveys.
- Note style:
- Collapsed: Shows as an icon after the chart title in detail and card views; hover the icon to view the note.
- Exposed: Displays the text after the chart title in detail and card views.
- Hidden: Not shown in either detail or card views.

- Metric label: By default shows the metric name; you can customize the displayed label.

- Dimension label: By default shows the dimension name; you can customize the displayed label.

1.2.2.2 Display Settings
- Legend: Shown by default; you can hide it.

- Show totals:
- Display mode: Enabled by default; you can disable it. When enabled, totals appear in edit, detail, or card views based on configuration. When disabled, totals are hidden in all views.
- Show totals in card view: Enabled by default; uncheck to hide totals in card view. If Display mode is disabled, this option is read-only.

- Data table: You can enable a data table and choose its position; default is hidden. Position options: top, bottom, left, right.
- Hide table in card view: This option is checked by default when the data table is enabled.


1.2.2.3 Colors & Fonts
- Color palette: The system supports two palette types: New and Classic. The default is the first set of the New palette. You can enable accessibility patterns.
- New palette: Supports customizing colors based on a selected palette.
- Classic palette: Does not support custom colors.



- Font size: Default 12; options: 13, 14, 15, 16.

1.2.2.4 Axes
- X axis
- Show title: Unchecked by default. When checked, the dimension field name appears and you can edit it.
- Title: When Show title is unchecked the field is read-only; checking it allows editing.
- Show title: Unchecked by default. When checked, the dimension field name appears and you can edit it.


- Label angle: Default is horizontal. Options: 45° right, 45° left, vertical, perpendicular.





- Y axis
- Show title: Unchecked by default. When checked, it defaults to the first metric name and can be edited.
- Title: When Show title is unchecked the field is read-only; checking it allows editing.
- Show title: Unchecked by default. When checked, it defaults to the first metric name and can be edited.

- Axis labels:
- Label angle: Can be set; default horizontal. Options include 45° left or vertical (same visual effects as X-axis label angles).
1.2.3 Feature Settings
1.2.3.1 Advanced Settings
- Show dimensions with zero metric: Unchecked by default. Check to display dimensions whose metric equals zero.

- Sorting: Unchecked by default. When enabled, you can sort dimensions by their natural order with Top N or by a chosen metric with Top N. Top N offers preset values or allows manual input.
- When a dimension is an enum or a Dept. field, custom ordering is supported.


1.2.4 Styling (Mobile)
1.2.4.1 Follow Web Layout
- Follows the Web layout and cannot be configured separately.

1.2.4.2 Independent Layout
- By default, mobile mirrors selected Web options but you can further adjust settings for better mobile presentation.
- Mobile offers fewer configurable items than Web. Settings that cannot be edited on mobile inherit Web configuration. Configurable mobile options follow the same behavior and logic as Web.
