General Options Set Usage


1. Create or Edit a Global Picklist

  1. Location: [Object Management] - [Global Picklists];
  2. On the Global Picklists page, click Create Global Picklist or edit an existing custom Global Picklist;
  3. Configure key information for the Global Picklist.
Configuration Item Description
Name The display name of the Global Picklist. This name appears in the Global Picklists list and wherever the picklist is used. Use a meaningful name that clearly indicates the picklist’s purpose.
API Name The unique identifier for the Global Picklist. The system auto-generates this when you create the picklist; use it when referencing the picklist in code.
Description A short explanation of the Global Picklist. The description appears on the Global Picklists list. To help distinguish picklists and clarify their purpose, include a brief summary of what the picklist is used for.
Picklist Values Enter each option in the text box and add it. Click New to add multiple values; you can also create values in bulk by entering each on a new line and pressing Enter.

3. Delete or Disable a Global Picklist

  1. You cannot disable an entire Global Picklist at the system level. However, you can set individual picklist values to Disabled if they are not currently needed; you can re-enable them later if required;
  2. To remove a Global Picklist you no longer need, delete it. On the Global Picklists page, click the Delete button for the corresponding picklist to remove it.

4. Special Notes

  1. If a Global Picklist is referenced by any object, it cannot be deleted;
  2. Each Global Picklist can contain up to 1,000 picklist values by default;
  3. The default maximum number of Global Picklists per organization is 20. If you require more, create a Customer Special Request record and choose System Resource Expansion → Number of Global Picklists.
