Data Migration Tool
Business Value
The migration tool in the Admin Console enables bulk data transfer for multiple objects from one or more owners, assigned departments, or organizations to another owner, department, or organization. It also handles Related Teams for multiple objects. This tool significantly improves data migration efficiency and reduces operational risks.
Creating a Migration Task
Navigate to Admin Console > Data Maintenance Tools > Migration Tool and click New.
Select the Action Target and Action Type:
Change Owner: Reassign data ownership.
Option to update the organization to the new owner’s organization (available only if multi-organization is enabled for the tenant). Default: Enabled.
Option to retain the original owner as a regular team member. Default: Disabled.
Whether to migrate the assigned department depends on the Change Owner button settings for the object.
Change Assigned Department: Reassign data to a different department.
Option to transfer the organization to the new department’s organization (available only if multi-organization is enabled for the tenant). Default: Enabled.
Change Assigned Organization: Reassign data to a different organization (available only if multi-organization is enabled for the tenant).
Bulk Assign Related Teams:Bulk Assign Related Teams
Add one or more users or departments.
Specify member permissions as Read-only or Read/Write.
Default role: Regular Member (other roles supported).
Bulk Assign Related Teams:Remove Members
When selecting Specified Members, remove one or more designated users or departments.
Option to Remove All Inactive Users/Departments.
Bulk Assign Related Teams:Replace Members
Replace one or more existing team members (users or departments) with another user or department.
Specify member permissions as Read-only or Read/Write, with Regular Member as the default role.
Select the objects for bulk transfer (e.g., Contact, Opportunity, Account). Users can choose one or more objects and set data filters for each.
Choose the execution method: Run Immediately or Schedule. Scheduled tasks begin at 10:00 PM on the same day. If submitted after 10:00 PM, the task will run at 10:00 PM the following day.
Viewing Migration Tasks
In the Migration Tool list, users can check the execution and completion times of tasks. Click View in the Actions column to review detailed task settings.
