Data Migration Tool
1. Business Value
The Admin Console Migration Tool lets administrators transfer large volumes of records across multiple objects from one owner, Dept., or organization to another, and manage Related Teams for multiple records. This tool significantly improves migration efficiency and reduces operational risk.
2. Creating a Migration Task

Go to Admin Console > Data Maintenance Tools > Migration Tool. Click New.

Select the migration target and action type:
- Migrate Owner: change the record owner.
- Optionally update the record’s organization to match the new owner’s organization (available only when the tenant has enabled multi-organization). Default: migrate.
- Optionally retain the previous owner as a regular team member. Default: do not retain.
- Whether Dept. is migrated together with the Owner depends on the object’s Replace Owner button setting.
- Migrate Dept.: change the record’s Dept.
- Optionally transfer the record’s organization to the new Dept.’s organization (available only when the tenant has enabled multi-organization). Default: migrate.

Migrate Organization: change the record’s organization (available only when the tenant has enabled multi-organization).
- Bulk Assign Related Teams: add team members.
- You can add one or more users or Departments.
- You can set added members’ permission to Read-only or Read/Write.
- Default role is Ordinary Member; other Roles are supported.

Bulk Assign Related Teams Remove Members - When choosing “Specified Members,” you can remove one or more specified users or Departments.
- You can set whether to “Remove all deactivated users/Departments.”

Bulk Assign Related Teams Replace Members - Replace one or more existing team members (users or Departments) with another user or Department.
- You can set added members’ permission to Read-only or Read/Write. Default role is Ordinary Member.

Select the objects to migrate in bulk, for example Contact, Opportunity, Account, etc. You can choose one or more objects and set data filter criteria per business object.

Choose execution mode. You can run the task immediately or schedule it. Scheduled tasks start at 10:00 PM local time on the same day; if you submit the task after 10:00 PM, it will be deferred to 10:00 PM the next day.
3. Viewing Migration Tasks
In the Migration Tool list, users can view each task’s start time and completion time. Click View in the Actions column to inspect a task’s detailed settings.
