Configure budget types

Create parent-child relationships between budget sheets based on the organization management model, and set planning, control, Budget Carryforward, and roll-up strategies.

Overview

Budget management models differ by enterprise and organization. Budget types can fit different Org Structure, create parent-child relationships between budget sheets, and set how budgets are created and controlled. You can currently set planning, control, Budget Carryforward, and roll-up strategies.
The control policy also determines whether the system generates a budget summary table: after an expense budget sheet is created successfully, and the control policy is not strict control by planning dimension, the system generates a summary table by control period and control dimension.

Before you start

Verification

  • The budget type list shows the new record.
  • When you create an expense budget sheet, you can select this type and see the matching level layout.
  • During Budget Breakdown, the system can load the receiving level by the hierarchy. The lowest level cannot be broken down further.
  • If you use coarse control (not strict control by planning dimension), you can see automatically generated records in the budget summary table after creation succeeds.

Notes

  • Do not change planning and control strategies of a budget type that is already referenced.
  • After parent-child relationships are used by budget sheets, evaluate existing Budget Breakdown and Budget Allocation data before you change them.
  • Budget Allocation is allowed only between budget sheets that share the same parent. When you design levels, reserve sibling nodes that can receive Budget Allocation.
