Rebate overview

In ShareCRM, a rebate is a commercial practice in which a manufacturer or supplier gives downstream distributors an incentive after they reach a sales target within a specific market and period.

Overview

A rebate is a benefit that a manufacturer or supplier returns after a distributor or customer reaches a target. Rebates are usually issued as an amount or as goods.

Core concepts

  • Incentive: Encourages distributors to meet sales targets on time or ahead of schedule and supports campaign execution.
  • Control: Lets distributors receive extra rebates while they still follow the manufacturer’s policies.

Purpose of rebates

  • Increase sales: Promotional discounts create incentives for downstream distributors.
  • Speed up collection: Linking rebates to the total payment amount encourages distributors to prepay on time or early.
  • Promote the brand: Rebates can support new-product launches, ad subsidies, and market activities.
  • Meet targets: Rebates can be configured around phased sales goals.
  • Increase pickup volume: Return-goods style rebates can raise pickup volume for key or clearance products.
  • Improve the market: Rebates can also support market share, channel coverage, and sales management goals.

Rebate forms

You can classify rebates from two angles: how they are redeemed and when they are generated. Requirement Confirmation comes before you enable the rebate workflow.

Usage Method

  • Amount-Based Rebate: Rewards are issued as funds. The rebate usually returns usable balance that can offset future orders. Some Amount-Based Rebates can be redeemed as cash or checks.
  • Product Rebate: Rewards are issued as specific products that can be picked up on later orders. Product Rebates support Rebate by Amount and Rebate by Quantity.

Generation timing

  • Monthly or quarterly: Redeemed based on monthly or quarterly performance.
  • Annual: Redeemed based on annual performance, usually in the first quarter of the next year.
  • Immediate: Settled order by order based on each pickup.

Rebate structure

The rebate system includes rebate generation and rebate usage.

Rebate system structure

Rebate generation: The system calculates Rebate Forms through Rebate Generation Policy based on any object that contains customer information.
Rebate usage: After a rebate form is posted to an account, you can use it on an order through the Customer Fund Account Component. The result is recorded in Rebate Usage Details. Rebate usage follows Rebate Usage Rules and Usage Rules.

Rebate types

  • Amount-Based Rebate: The company grants a certain amount of rebate to downstream distributors or customers. The rebate can be used on the next order or Offset Payment Received. It can also be reflected as Rebate Amount and Allocated Discount.
  • Product Rebate: The company grants a certain product or goods rebate to downstream distributors or customers. The distributor can pick up the corresponding product on the next order. Product Rebate supports Rebate by Amount and Rebate by Quantity.

Rebate types and Customer Fund Accounts

The rebate system depends on the Customer Fund Account system. All Rebate Forms must be posted to a Customer Fund Account before they can be used. The Account Type mapping is shown below.
