Product-linked attributes

Overview

By binding available attributes to a product, limiting allowed value ranges, and setting defaults, sales can choose the correct parameters faster on the front end without being distracted by irrelevant options. Product-linked attributes answer two questions: which parameters this product supports, and what range of values sales are allowed to select.

Before you begin

[!IMPORTANT] - Permissions required: You need permission to edit products or configure products. - Prerequisites: Standard attributes, non-standard attributes, and required attribute groups have already been created. - Dependencies: If pricing is required later, the related attributes must also be marked as participating in parameter pricing.

Step 1: Open the Configure Attributes entry

This step is useful in the following situations:
  • The same attribute only applies to some products.
  • The same attribute allows different value ranges on different products.
  • Some attributes are display-only and do not participate in pricing.
  • A product needs preset default attribute values to reduce repeated selection.
The entry point is Configure Attributes on the product detail page. After association is complete, the product detail page displays the currently linked attributes and lets you adjust them further.
The product detail page supports managing attribute associations through Configure Attributes.

Step 2: Select attributes and limit the available range

In addition to choosing an attribute, actual configuration requires several key actions:
  1. Maintain the allowed attribute value range. For example, a standard attribute may have many global values, but the current product only allows part of them.
  2. Maintain whether the attribute participates in parameter pricing. If an attribute is only used to record parameters and should not affect price, explicitly mark it as not participating in pricing.
  3. Maintain default values. If the business has a standard delivery baseline, you can preset a default value directly.
  4. Maintain display order and grouping. Selected attributes support secondary editing and ordering, which affects the sales-facing display.
The page behavior breaks these actions down further:
  • When linking a standard attribute, you can restrict the value range allowed for the current product.
  • If an attribute is only for display and not for price calculation, explicitly mark it as not participating in parameter pricing.
  • Bound attributes are displayed by group order, and ungrouped attributes fall under the Ungrouped section.
  • Attributes already added to the product can still be edited and reordered by drag and drop.
Selected attributes support grouped display, secondary editing, and drag-and-drop sorting. Selected attributes support grouped display, secondary editing, and drag-and-drop sorting.

Step 3: Set defaults, pricing participation, and display order

  1. Open the target product detail page.
  2. Select Configure Attributes.
  3. Choose the standard or non-standard attributes that the product should use.
  4. For standard attributes, set the sellable value range. For non-standard attributes, confirm whether manual input is allowed.
  5. For attributes that affect price, confirm that the pricing-participation switch is configured correctly.
  6. Set default values and display order based on the sales scenario.
During page-level operation, it is useful to perform two extra checks:
  • Verify that standard attributes only keep the values truly allowed for the current product.
  • Verify that attributes not affecting price are explicitly excluded from parameter pricing.

Result check

After association is complete, the product is no longer just a static item. It becomes a sellable object with clear parameter boundaries. When sales choose the product on the front end, they see only the attributes and value ranges allowed for that product instead of unrelated options.

Common checkpoints

  • If an attribute value does not appear on the front end, first check whether it is included in the product’s sellable range.
  • If an attribute appears but cannot affect pricing, first check whether it is marked as participating in parameter pricing.
  • If display order is confusing, check the grouping configuration and the order of the selected attributes first.
