Enable the price book feature
Enable the price book switch so that subsequent pricing rules take effect.
Overview
The main price book switch is the entry point for price management. After you enable it, the system uses configured price books to control product and pricing behavior in business records. The system also creates a standard price book as the base price source.
Before you start
[!IMPORTANT] - Permissions: You need price management configuration permissions. - Impact: Enabling the feature affects prices in opportunities, quotes, sales contracts, and sales orders. - Prerequisite: Confirm that the required order-related OpenAPI updates are complete.
[!WARNING] You cannot turn off price book capabilities after enabling them. Use care when enabling them in a production environment.
Steps
- Go to Setup > Price Management Configuration > Price Books.
- Find the Enable Price Books switch.
- Turn on the switch.
- Save the configuration.
- Confirm that the system automatically creates a Standard Price Book.
Results
After configuration:
- The system automatically creates a standard price book.
- Product prices in sales orders become controlled by price books.
- Later business records can automatically retrieve prices according to price book rules.
