Configure price book details

Add products and specific pricing rules to a price book so business records can retrieve the correct price.

Overview

The price book header defines the applicable scope. Price Books details define how a product is priced. The system can retrieve a price in a business record only after you maintain a product price, discount, or other rule in the details.

Before you start

[!IMPORTANT] - Permissions: You need price book management permissions. - Prerequisite: The target price book exists. - Impact: Detail settings directly affect prices in business records.

Steps

  1. Open the target price book details page.
  2. Open the related Price Book Details object.
  3. Click Add Products.
  4. Select the products to price.
  5. Check the Standard Price supplied by the system.
  6. Enter the Price Book Price or Price Book Discount.
  7. Add other conditions as needed.
  8. Save the detail.

Configuration points

  • By default, one product can have only one detail in a price book.
  • With multi-unit, validity-period, tiered, or segmented pricing enabled, one product can have multiple details in one price book when their conditions differ.
  • Price retrieval depends on whether the detail matches the customer, date, quantity, and unit conditions.
  • The system may not supply a price when the product has no matching detail.

Product Product A
Standard price The original product price supplied by the system
Price Books price The promotional sales price
Price Books discount For example, a 5% discount

Expected result

The system identifies the product and supplies its price in business records that meet the configured conditions.
