Create and assign management roles

Overview

Before you begin

[!IMPORTANT] - Role permissions: You must have System Administrator permissions.

Procedure

1. Create a management role

1. Go to Setup > Role Permissions > Management Function Permissions.
2. Click New.
3. Enter the following information:
   • Role name: For example, Process Configuration User.
   • Role description: For example, Maintains all company approval flows and business process configurations.
4. Click Confirm.

2. Configure management function permissions

1. The management role page lists Setup menus, such as enterprise settings, object management, process customization, and data security.
2. Select menus according to the administrator’s responsibilities:
   • Org Structure Management: Manage departments, enable employees, and configure Directory Isolation.
   • Object Customization: Create custom objects and maintain fields and layouts.
   • Process Management: Create and edit approval flows, workflows, and business processes.
3. Click Save in the upper-right corner.

3. Assign the management role to employees

1. On the role management page, open the Employee Assignment tab.
2. Click Add Employee.
3. Select the employees and click Confirm.

[!NOTE] * Assign and remove employees for the default CRM Administrator role on the Management Function Permissions page. * After assignment, employees must sign in again to see the new Setup menus.

Verify the result

1. Create a management role named Organization Assistant and select only Org Structure Management.
2. Assign the role to Wang Wu.
3. Sign in as Wang Wu and open Setup.
4. Expected result: Wang Wu can open Setup, but the left navigation shows only Org Structure Management. Object Customization and Process Management are hidden.
