Enable and manage transaction currencies and exchange rates

Set the enterprise base currency, add transaction currencies, and maintain their exchange rates.

Before you begin

The enterprise must separately enable Multi-Currency Management. Your account requires Multiple Currency Settings under Setup > Role Permission Management > Management Function Permissions > Permission Settings > Internationalization. Obtain written confirmation of the base currency from the finance or business owner before proceeding.

Enable multiple currencies for the first time

  1. Open Currency Management as an administrator.
  2. Enable multiple currencies.
  3. Select and confirm the enterprise base currency.
[!WARNING] The base currency can be set only once and cannot be changed. Do not enable multiple currencies in production until the finance policy is confirmed.
Multiple currencies cannot be disabled after enablement. The system adds preset fields for currency, exchange rate, exchange-rate version, base currency, and related values to objects. These fields do not appear on layouts by default.
Open Multiple Currency Management Instructions on the Currency Management page to review the base currency, original currency, conversion formula, generated fields, and BI reporting rules.

Add a transaction currency and set its rate

  1. Go to Setup > Internationalization > Currency Management.
  2. Select Add Currency.
  3. Select a standard currency or enter currency information according to enterprise rules.
  4. Enter its exchange rate against the base currency.
  5. Save, or select Save and New to continue.
Add a transaction currency and exchange rate
The initial exchange rate is set while the currency is added, so adding a currency and maintaining its first rate are one process.

Manage existing currencies and rates

  • Enable or disable transaction currencies in the currency list.
  • To change a rate, use the rate-adjustment entry point for that currency and confirm the finance-effective rule before saving.
  • Use View Historical Exchange Rates to review rate changes.
  • The conversion formula is Base-currency amount = Original-currency amount x Exchange rate.
  • A disabled currency is unavailable for new records, while historical records that use it remain available.
  • A currency already used by business data cannot be deleted directly.
[!NOTE] The platform does not provide real-time exchange rates. If external rates are required, design an OpenAPI update mechanism and define frequency, failure handling, and audit rules.

Next steps

Add currency, exchange-rate, and converted-amount fields to target object layouts. Validate create, edit, detail, and list displays with an employee account.
