Interconnected workflows and notifications overview
Interconnected workflows bring upstream and downstream users into the same business process. External users can participate in approvals, business flows, stage progression, and workflows, while notifications communicate process results.
Supported capabilities
- Interconnected approval workflow: Starts an approval when a Partner Connect record is created and allows external users to participate.
- Interconnected business flow: Selects an external role or external owner at a business flow step.
- Interconnected stage progression: Adds external steps to a stage progression process.
- Interconnected workflow: Sends an external notification or runs an APL function as a post-action.
Select external participants
A process can select downstream participants through external roles, external owners, or external user variables. Available variable types depend on the process capability.
Notifications and tasks
An approved or rejected step, or a workflow post-action, can send an external notification. Downstream partners review tasks and business notifications in Partner Connect, while upstream users process their tasks in the CRM.
