Configure interconnected workflows and notifications


An upstream enterprise can configure external participants, step actions, and notifications in four types of interconnected processes.

Before you start

[!IMPORTANT] - Confirm that your account can configure approval workflows, business flows, stage progression, and workflows. - Confirm that Partner Connect, external roles, and the relevant business objects are configured.

Configure an interconnected approval workflow

  1. Create or edit an approval workflow.
  2. Enable interconnected approval.
  3. Select Interconnected Application > Partner Connect.
  4. At an approval step, select an external role or use an external owner or external user variable.
  5. For approved and rejected step actions, configure an external notification or APL function.
  6. Publish the approval workflow.

Configure an interconnected business flow

  1. Create or edit a business flow.
  2. Enable an interconnected step.
  3. Select an external role under users, departments, roles, or user groups.
  4. Alternatively, select an external owner or external user from a user field on a related object.
  5. Publish the business flow.

Configure interconnected stage progression

  1. Create or edit a stage progression process.
  2. Enable a Partner Connect interconnected step.
  3. Select external participants for stages that require partner involvement.
  4. Define the stage completion criteria and publish the process.

Configure an interconnected workflow

Add a post-action that sends an external notification or runs a custom function. Before publishing, test the notification recipient and trigger conditions with a partner role.

Expected result

When Partner Connect activity starts an interconnected process, upstream and downstream users receive the corresponding tasks or notifications.
