Partner connect core terms


This reference defines the principal business objects, fields, statuses, and rules used in Partner Connect.
Term Definition
Partner A downstream enterprise that has established a channel partnership with an upstream enterprise.
Connected company A company connected to an upstream enterprise through Enterprise Interconnection. It can be an existing Partner record or a new Partner created while the connection is added.
Connected contact A person who uses interconnected applications on behalf of the connected company. The person’s mobile number is used to provision the access account.
Interconnected application An application capability that an upstream enterprise makes available to a downstream enterprise. Partner Connect is one such application.
External role A role that an upstream enterprise assigns to a downstream user. It determines object access, field access, and data scope.
Partner lead pool A pool of leads prepared by an upstream enterprise for partners, with rules for assignment, claiming, and reclamation.
Public account pool A pool of account resources prepared by an upstream enterprise for partners, with rules for assignment, claiming, and reclamation.
Account registration Business information about a prospective account submitted by a downstream partner for upstream approval, helping prevent channel conflict among partners.
Opportunity registration Project opportunity information submitted by a downstream partner and reviewed through the process configured by the upstream enterprise.
Selling permission Product and price restrictions that an upstream enterprise applies to different partners through products and price books.
Interconnected workflow step A step in an approval workflow, business workflow, or stage progression that allows external users to participate.
Partner Field Sales Field sales capabilities made available to partners. The source documentation identifies this as a limited-release feature.

Terminology guidelines
