Backend Capability Overview

The backend retains only what administrators need: application-level settings, 1.0 customized ingestion, duplicate verification, AI Q&A records. Daily maintenance and permissions are on the frontend.

Overview

The backend of the knowledge base provides the enterprise-level capabilities that administrators use to define roles, manage knowledge entries, review content, connect knowledge sources, and publish the knowledge base to external audiences.

Backend roles in Knowledge Base 2.0

Role Status in 2.0 Scope

Knowledge operations personnel No longer effective Knowledge entry, maintenance and permission are handled in the front end.
Knowledge entry personnel No longer effective Knowledge entry, maintenance and permission are handled in the front end.
  • In Knowledge Base 2.0, only the knowledge base administrator remains an effective backend role.
  • Knowledge entry, daily maintenance and permission management all happen in the front end.
  • Permission settings from the legacy backend (AI knowledge entries and enterprise knowledge spaces) no longer take effect; front-end space and folder resource permissions are authoritative.

Legacy backend (1.0)

  • Standard Knowledge Base 2.0 deployments are not recommended to use these legacy pages; use the front end for maintenance instead.
