Administrator quick start
Complete the shortest enablement path for Budget Management: open the app, confirm permissions, and finish a minimum setup of subjects, a budget type, and one rule.
1. Learning goals and final result
After you complete this tutorial, you can:
- Open the Budget Management app from the web main navigation
- Confirm that budget settings permissions are available
- Maintain one budget subject
- Create one budget type
- Save one budget consumption rule or budget accrual rule
After that, budget finance can start creating expense budget sheets.
2. Before you start
- The enterprise has purchased Budget Management.
- You are a CRM administrator, or a budget finance user with Budget Settings permission.
- Accounts that participate in the budget (including dealers), products or Product Category, and budget subjects already exist. If they are not ready, first complete Maintain budget master data.
3. Step-by-step instructions
Step 1: Open the Budget Management app
- In the web main navigation, open Budget Management.
- Confirm that you can see the Budget Settings and Budget Management menu groups.
If you cannot see the app, grant the Budget Management app to the current identity in global app permissions. See Enable the app and permissions.

Step 2: Maintain one budget subject
- Open the subject list in Budget Settings > Budget Subjects. The system already provides preset master data.
- Create one subject for this tutorial based on your organization’s subject hierarchy, or confirm that an existing subject is available.
- After you save, later budget creation can reference this subject.

Step 3: Create one budget type
- In Budget Settings > Budget Types, click New.
- Create parent-child relationships between budget sheets based on your organization’s management model.
- Set a minimum usable combination of planning, control, Budget Carryforward, and roll-up strategies.
- Save the budget type.
💡
The control policy affects whether the system generates a budget summary table. When the policy is not strict control by planning dimension, the system generates a summary table by control period and control dimension after an expense budget sheet is created successfully.

Step 4: Configure one rule
Based on the more urgent scenario, do only one of the following:
- If business documents need Direct Deduction of budget: create a rule in Budget Settings > Budget Consumption Rules. Configure the consumption object (a Custom Object or a Standard Object, not including budget-related objects), deduction method, deduction timing, deduction amount source, and expense allocation.
- If you need to accrue from receivables, shipments, or similar transactions: create a rule in Budget Settings > Budget Accrual Rules. Configure the accrual source, accrual conditions, accrual ratio, and which Budget Sheet receives the accrual.
After you save, business objects can dynamically find the matching Budget Sheet through the rule.

4. Run and verify
- The budget subject list shows the subject you maintained.
- The budget type list shows the type you created.
- The consumption rule or accrual rule list shows the rule you saved.
- Budget finance can open the expense budget sheet create page with this budget type.
