Set, split, and aggregate target values

Enter targets for rule dimensions, then split or aggregate the data across hierarchy levels.

Overview

When a rule is enabled, target administrators and employees can enter target values for hierarchical dimensions. Use split and aggregate operations to distribute a parent target to child levels or roll child targets up, keeping data consistent across the hierarchy.

Before you begin

[!IMPORTANT] You need the Target Values > View List permission, and an administrator must have enabled the target rule.

Procedure

  1. From the Targets menu, select a target rule.
  2. On the Target Value Configuration page, add evaluation-dimension values. You can also remove dimension values or hide target-value columns as needed.
  3. Enter the target value for the applicable period in the target-value cell.
  4. In settings, specify the split method (to the lowest level or to child levels) and display mode (drill-down or tree). For a parent target value, split it evenly or by weight.
  5. For a child target value, run an aggregation operation.

Verify the result

The page displays the dimension values you entered. Splitting creates child-level data, and aggregation displays parent-level data.
