Dashboard core terms

A dashboard created by a regular employee or an administrator and saved as the Personal type. All roles can create, view, share, edit, or save as a new Personal dashboard; a Personal dashboard shared by others can be saved as a new dashboard. When viewing, viewers see data according to their own data permission. This type supports drill-down, viewing details, global filtering, and chart-specific condition filters.

A dashboard created only by a CRM administrator or a reports administrator and saved as the Enterprise type. Administrators can create, edit, and authorize dashboards; other roles can view them after authorization but cannot edit them. When viewing, viewers see data according to the authorizer’s data permission. Enterprise dashboards generally do not support global filtering; only conditions that administrators have not locked can be used for global filtering, and the personnel global filter cannot be unlocked.

The person who configures a dashboard in the dashboard designer. The designer’s left panel is the component area, the right panel sets global and component properties and styles, and the canvas area holds components and adjusts their presentation. For Enterprise dashboards, only CRM administrators and reports administrators can act as designers.

The person who views a dashboard. Viewers of Personal dashboards use their own data permission; viewers of Enterprise dashboards use the authorizer’s data permission. For filter conditions that are not locked, viewers can re-adjust the filter content at view time and apply it to the current view.

The personnel and date filter conditions in a dashboard. All are enabled and unlocked by default and apply to all charts. Charts that set personnel, department, and date fields in their data range follow the global filter; when a chart has no data range configured, the system automatically adds the owner or primary department and the date field for filtering. When locked, regular employees cannot adjust the global filter at view time.

A component for setting custom filter conditions on a dashboard. You can configure the filter field, default value, applicable charts, and filter name for certain field types. A custom filter on a Date or Date Time field is mutually exclusive with the date field in the global filter; you must disable the date in the global filter before using it. Enterprise dashboards support custom filter configuration normally; in Advanced Filter Settings, only the default value can be set, and setting optional values, locking, and overriding user-saved default values are not supported.

An interaction between charts. When a viewer clicks a chart that can initiate linkage, the linked charts update accordingly. Charts that can initiate linkage are single-dimension and dual-dimension charts. Linked charts can be charts on the same subject, as well as reports, report cross tabs, or joined reports that contain the chart’s subject object.

A chart’s own drill-down or view-details operation. You can configure a dashboard to prioritize the linkage display, execute a drill-down or view details, or make linked charts update when the initiating chart drills down. Personal dashboards support drill-down and viewing details; Enterprise dashboards do not.

A configurable unit that makes up dashboard content, added to the canvas from the component area on the left of the designer. The listed components include global filter, custom filter, charts, carousel, rich text, and tab container. Chart components can add preset or custom charts; a dashboard supports up to 20 charts.
