View and maintain the contact influence map

Overview

Use Contact relationships to identify the Decision Chain and key roles.

B2B purchases usually involve several Contacts. The Influence Map turns separate Contact records into decision relationships. It helps sales representatives assess stakeholder coverage and plan the next conversation.

Before you begin

Before you begin - You need permission to view the target Account and related Contacts. - To maintain the map, you also need permission to edit the related object and component. - Your administrator has added the Influence Map component to the Account layout.

View the Influence Map

On the Account details page, open the Account Contact Influence Map.
Review Contacts and parent-child relationships on the node cards.
For a large map, use the Mini Map in the lower-right corner to navigate the canvas.

Node cards display Contact fields configured by your administrator. The card corners can highlight Single Select values that represent roles or statuses.

Maintain the Influence Map

In the Influence Map display view, click Edit.
On the canvas, create the required Parent Node and child nodes.
Drag a Contact from the left panel to an Empty node.
To remove a Contact, open More Actions in the upper-right corner of the node.
Save the relationship data.

Data rules

Each node represents one Contact Influence relationship record.
An Empty node can serve as a relationship placeholder without an Associated Contact.
The same Contact can appear in multiple nodes.
Parent and child nodes must belong to the same Account.
Keep only one top-level node for each Account, when possible.

Verify the result

The display view shows Contact nodes, parent-child relationships, and configured fields.
New and updated relationships appear after you save the map.
A node remains as a relationship placeholder after you remove its Contact.
