Switch non-standard products to standard products in documents

Replace a placeholder line with a formal product.

Overview

Non-standard products let you complete the transaction process first.
After the product information is clear, you can switch the non-standard product to a standard product in the document. The system updates product-related information and keeps auxiliary fields or Custom Fields.

Before you begin

[!IMPORTANT] - Role permissions: You have permission to edit the target document. - Completion Conditions: The standard product record has been created. - Page requirement: The target document uses the new or edit page layout.

Steps

  1. In the transaction document that contains the non-standard product, open the new or edit page.
  2. In the product details area, find the non-standard product line to switch.
  3. In that line, click the Product Name field.
  4. On the product selection page, select the standard product to bring back.
  5. Confirm that the system has updated product-related information, including Product Name, Unit, attributes, Specification, BOM structure, and Product Object Reference Fields.
  6. According to the backend switch rule, confirm whether the price keeps its original value.
  7. Check whether auxiliary fields or Custom Fields, such as Warehouse and Shipping Date, keep their original values.
  8. Save the document.

Switch by Price Book Details

If the document uses Price Book capabilities, you can also switch by Price Book Details:
  1. In the non-standard product line, click the Price Book Details field.
  2. On the product selection page, select the Price Book Details of the standard product to bring back.
  3. Confirm that the product information and price information meet business requirements.

Expected result and validation

  • The non-standard product line switches to a standard product line.
  • The product selection page shows only products whose Product Type is Standard Product.
  • Product-related information such as Product Name, Unit, attributes, Specification, and BOM structure is updated.
  • Auxiliary fields or Custom Fields such as Warehouse and Shipping Date keep their original values.
  • Price information follows the backend switch rule.
