Enable multiple units
Enable multiple units to manage unit data centrally and maintain multiple units and conversion relationships for products.
When to use this feature
Enable multiple units when a product uses different units in sales, quotes, or contracts, such as boxes, packs, pieces, tons, or kilograms.
Before you start
[!IMPORTANT] - Permissions: You have system configuration permissions. - Business decision: You have confirmed that one product must relate to multiple units. - Impact: The system adds a unit object. Product unit data expands from one field to a configuration that can relate to multiple units.
Steps
- Go to Setup > Item/Product Configuration > Multiple-Unit Configuration, and enable multiple units.
- Open the Products module. Check that the product page shows Multiple Units and a unit conversion entry.
- Use Validation rules for multiple-unit conversions to check unit and conversion settings.

Configuration results
- The system adds the unit object for centrally managed unit data.
- You can enable Multiple Units for a product and relate multiple units.
- You can maintain conversion relationships between units.
- Quotes, sales orders, sales contracts, and other business records can use the product with its configured units.
- The system requires unique conversion ratios for each product and at least one base unit.
Validation rules
- Conversion ratios must be unique within a product.
- Each product must have at least one base unit.
- For a variant item, the item centrally maintains multiple-unit information, and all related variant products share the item configuration.
