Verify data relationships and business impact after objectification

After product category objectification is complete, check category data, object relationships, field changes, and product selection results in business records.

Before you start

[!IMPORTANT] - Permissions: You need view permission for product categories and related product, item, and price book detail objects. - Prerequisites: The objectification data synchronization task is complete, or the system reports that synchronization is complete. - Impact: Use the results to confirm data integrity and business usability after objectification.

Validate category data

  1. Check the category count in the Product Categories list.
  2. Expand the category tree and check each parent and child relationship.
  3. Search by code and confirm that codes are complete and unique.
  4. Sample-check owners, images, descriptions, notes, and other basic information.

Validate object relationships

  • Confirm that item objects relate to the correct product categories.
  • Confirm that product objects relate to the correct product categories.
  • Confirm that price book details retain the correct category references.
  • Confirm that legacy category fields were removed or replaced by new object relationship fields as described on the page.
Examples of objectified field identifiers include product_category_id on product and item objects and product_category on price book details. Use the object management page as the source of truth for actual field names, API identifiers, and version differences.

Validate business records

  1. Open the product selection entry in an opportunity, quote, sales contract, or sales order.
  2. Confirm that categories use the saved tree or flat structure.
  3. Select a category and confirm that the product list returns the correct products.
  4. Save a test business record and confirm that its product details save successfully.

External system impact

If ERP, OpenAPI, or another external system depends on legacy product category fields or APIs, confirm that the new object fields and data structure are adapted in the actual environment.

How to revert this configuration

You cannot turn off product category objectification after enabling it. If you find data or integration issues, preserve the issue state and fix the relationships or integration through enterprise data and integration governance processes. Do not revert by turning off the switch.

Key validation term

Use the Validation Object page as the source of truth for field names and API identifiers.
