Configure an opportunity decision chain template
Use a standard relationship structure to improve key stakeholder coverage.
Overview
An Opportunity Decision Chain template automatically creates an initial relationship structure for a matching new Opportunity in Opportunity Management.
The template gives the sales team a consistent framework for identifying key roles and reduces Duplicate Configuration.
Before you begin
- You need configuration permissions for the Relationship Template Library and Opportunity Decision Chain.
- Define the decision roles, relationship structure, and template conditions.
- The template creates only the initial structure. Sales representatives must maintain it for each Opportunity.
Create a Decision Chain template
- In Relationship Template Library, select New Relationship Template.
- Select Opportunity Decision Chain Template.
- Enter the template name and Priority.
- Configure Opportunity conditions to define the Applicable Scope.
- Create relationship paths and Nodes in the template details.
- Save the template.
- Create a matching Opportunity to verify the generated structure.
If several templates Match, the system selects one template by Priority. Available fields, Match conditions, and generation timing depend on your environment.
Verify the configuration
- Create a test Opportunity that meets the template conditions.
- View the initial Decision Chain structure on the Opportunity.
- Confirm that the system uses the highest-priority matching template.
- Confirm that sales representatives can maintain the structure and its Contacts.
