Configure opportunity duplicate checking and creation approval

Overview

Before you begin

Before you begin - Permissions: You need configuration permissions for the Opportunity object and Approval Process. - Duplicate criteria: Identify the fields that determine whether two Opportunities are duplicates. - Approval design: Define the Approver, Approval Nodes, and conditions for Opportunity creation.

Configure duplicate checking

1. Open the Opportunity object in object management.
2. Open Duplicate Rules.
3. Configure New Duplicate according to your business requirements.
4. Configure import duplicate checking and the Duplicate Tool for any additional entry points.
5. Save the rules.

Configure creation approval

1. Open the Opportunity creation settings.
2. Enable Opportunity creation approval.
3. Create an Approval Process with the platform’s approval tools.
4. Configure the trigger conditions, Approver, and Approval Nodes.
5. Save and enable the Approval Process.

Verify the configuration

1. Create a test Opportunity that matches an existing Opportunity.
2. Confirm that the duplicate result follows the configured rules.
3. Create an Opportunity that meets the approval conditions.
4. Confirm that the system submits a Request Approval to the expected Approver.
