Administrator quick start
Configure collaboration apps, objects, permissions, and business rules in the recommended order.
Before you begin
- Confirm that you have administrator permission for the relevant apps.
- Note that a CRM administrator and a Feeds system administrator are different roles.
- Confirm that your organization has enabled the required apps and phased-release features.
Confirm the app scope
- Go to Setup > App List and locate the collaboration app.
- Check its app administrators and visibility scope.
- Confirm that employees can see the app entry point.
Configure object capabilities
- Go to CRM Platform Management > Object Management > Preset Object Management.
- Select the Report, Task, Calendar, or other target object.
- Check its fields, layouts, record types, and role permissions.
- Assign the record types and layouts to the applicable roles.
Configure business rules
Reports and Calendar have separate business-rule settings. Tasks do not have a separate business-rule configuration.
- Open the business-rule settings for Reports or Calendar.
- Configure the Report submission period or Calendar object scope.
- Check the applicable scope and default values.
- Save the configuration.
Verify the employee workflow
- Sign in with a test employee account.
- Check the app entry point and creation controls.
- Create a test record.
- Check the result in Feeds, the object list, and the record detail page.
- Confirm that a role without permission cannot perform the restricted action.
Completion criteria
- Target employees can see the app and required controls.
- Each business role has the correct record type, layout, feature permissions, and data permissions.
- Test data appears in the expected Feed, object list, or detail page.
- Roles without permission cannot perform restricted actions.
- For phased-release, connected-organization, or third-party synchronization features, organization access and user authorization are verified.
[!WARNING] Changes to fields, layouts, permissions, or submission rules can affect existing users. Test with representative roles before release.
