Copying an outbound change set lets you reuse an existing component list to quickly create a new release package.

Before you begin

  • You have permission to create change sets.
  • A reusable outbound change set already exists.
  • Confirm the component scope of the original change set.

Step 1: Open the Outbound Change Sets page

  1. In the admin backend, go to Environment Management > Outbound Change Sets.
  2. In the list, find the change set to copy.

Step 2: Copy the change set

  1. In the action area of the target change set, click Copy.
  2. In Change Set Name, enter a new name.
  3. In Description, state the purpose of the copy.
  4. Click Save.

Step 3: Adjust components

  1. Open the newly copied change set.
  2. Remove components that you do not need to publish.
  3. Add components that are new for this release.
  4. Check dependent components.

Expected results and validation

The system creates a new pending-upload change set. The new change set includes the components of the copied change set.
When copying an outbound change set, the system uses the specified change set as a template and creates a new outbound change set. The newly copied change set includes all metadata components of the copied change set and its status is Pending Upload.
