Configure custom languages
Capability
When the platform’s existing languages do not meet an enterprise requirement, the enterprise can request support for a special language. Administrators cannot create one through a standard self-service setting. The request requires special approval and processing or rollout enablement by the engineering team.
Before you request a language
- The target language is not currently supported by the enterprise.
- The enterprise has assigned translation and long-term maintenance owners.
- The language name, scope, launch date, and translation acceptance criteria are defined.
Request and implementation process
- Submit a special approval request describing the target language, scope, and business background.
- Confirm with delivery or engineering whether a platform tool will generate an initial translation or the enterprise will provide translated language data.
- Engineering processes the language and enables the capability for the target enterprise.
- After enablement, use Translation Workbench to import, export, and correct custom term translations.
- Add target-language values to business data for which multiple languages is enabled.
- Validate sign-in, navigation, object fields, business data, and critical business processes with an account using the target language.
Limitations
- Languages outside the built-in platform scope require a purchase discussion with ShareCRM. The platform does not publish a single limit for the number of custom languages.
- Support, price, number of languages, lead time, and implementation method depend on commercial confirmation and special approval. This manual does not promise a fixed limit.
- When the enterprise provides translated data, it is responsible for the content and associated cost.
- New objects, fields, layouts, and business data still require ongoing translation maintenance after enablement.
