Multilingual content and maintenance entry points
Use this page to identify where to translate each type of content. Business data, system terms, and organization information are maintained in different places.
How do I determine where to translate content that appears in Chinese?
Choose the maintenance entry point based on the content source:

| Built-in menus, buttons, or messages | Use the translations provided by the system. Submit a product issue if the target language is missing. |
| Custom objects, fields, layouts, buttons, or record type names | Object Name Settings, a translation shortcut, or Translation Workbench |
| Business data such as product names, product categories, opportunity names, work orders, or devices | Enable multiple languages for the field in Data Translation Settings, then maintain values for each language. |
| Employee, department, organization, or enterprise names | The corresponding edit page in the address book, organization structure, or enterprise profile |

How do I translate business data such as product categories and opportunities?
Product category names and opportunity names are business data, not system terms.
- Go to Setup > Internationalization > Data Translation Settings.
- Enable multiple languages for the target object and field.
- On the create or edit page, use the multilingual entry point beside the field to maintain values in each language.
- To supplement a large volume of historical data, use update import to maintain the values in bulk.
Where do I maintain multilingual employee, department, and organization names?
Maintain employee system names, department names, and organization names on the corresponding edit pages in the address book or organization structure. This content is organization data and is not maintained as ordinary system terms in Translation Workbench.
