Time zones
Time zone settings display the same business date and time in either the enterprise default time zone or a user’s personal time zone.
What time zone settings do
Employees in different time zones can view date and time values in their local time. The enterprise can set a default time zone, and each employee can set a personal time zone.
Enterprise default and personal preference
- The enterprise time zone is the default for enterprise users.
- The personal time zone is an employee’s viewing preference. After an employee sets a personal time zone, changing the enterprise time zone does not overwrite that preference.
The time zone affects date and time display on supported pages. It may also affect conditions and formulas based on the current date or time. Validate real business dates for scenarios that cross a day or month boundary or occur in a daylight saving time region.
Key concepts
- UTC: Coordinated Universal Time, the common reference used to express time-zone offsets.
- Local time: The time in a particular time zone. For example,
UTC+08:00is 8 hours ahead of UTC.
[!NOTE] This manual describes user-visible configuration and display behavior. It does not specify how the underlying database stores time values.
