Configure tags


Configure tag groups, tag values, visibility, mutual exclusion, and automatic scoring relationships.

Overview

Create a classification library for Accounts, Leads, and other objects. Tags can be applied manually or through scoring rules. Automatic tag groups can keep one mutually exclusive tag or accumulate several tags.

Before you begin

[!IMPORTANT] - You need configuration permission for Tag Management. - Tags support all standard and custom objects. One group can apply to several objects.

Procedure

1. Create a tag group

  1. Go to Setup > Object Management > Tag Management.
  2. Click New Tag Group.
  3. Configure these fields:
    • Group Name: Enter a descriptive name.
    • API Name: Use the generated value in most cases.
    • Applicable Objects: Select one or more standard or custom objects.
    • Tag Type: Select Manual Tagging or Automatic System Tagging.
    • Mutually Exclusive Tags: Keep one calculated tag, or allow several tags to accumulate.
    • Applicable Scope: Select users who can view and use the group.
  4. Click Save.

2. Add tag values

  1. Select a group and click Add Tag Value.
  2. Configure Tag Name, Tag Group, API Name, Color, and Description.
  3. Click Save.

3. Associate an automatic scoring rule

For an automatic group, review Tag Rules. If no rule references the group, follow the link to Scoring Rule Settings. Referenced rules show their logic and enabled status.

Maintain tags

  • Edit or delete a tag group from its action column.
  • Enable, disable, edit, or delete tag values.
