Create an object mapping rule


Create an object conversion relationship and field mappings for master and detail objects.

Overview

An object mapping rule defines how data moves between two business objects. Configure at least one mapping between fields of the same data type. You can also map detail objects and their Record Types.

Before you begin

[!IMPORTANT] - You need permission to manage Object Mapping Rules. - Configure the source and target objects, fields, and Record Types first.

Procedure

1. Create a rule

  1. Go to Setup > Business Rule Management > Object Mapping Rules.
  2. Click New.

2. Enter basic information

Enter a unique Rule Name and keep Enabled turned on.

3. Select objects

Select the Source Object and Target Object. Contact your customer success manager if a required standard object is unavailable.

4. Map fields

  1. Under Master Object Field Mapping, click Add Row and map source fields to target fields. Add at least one mapping. Field data types must match.
  2. If both objects have detail objects, map their Record Types and fields under Detail Object Mapping.
  3. Click Save.

Manage rules

  • New: Create a rule.
  • Enable/Disable: Only enabled rules run for users.
  • Delete: Disable an enabled rule before you delete it.
