Configure and use the AI artifact component
Display and manage Agent-generated AI artifacts, such as account insights, visit notes, and follow-up plans, on an object details page while preserving their sources.
Overview
The AI Artifact component relates HTML, Word, Excel, PDF, image, and other Agent-generated artifacts to accounts, opportunities, contacts, or other Business Data.
Users can view related artifacts on an object details page. Depending on the configuration, they can download, unlink, forward, or view artifacts in full screen.
One AI artifact can relate to multiple object records, and one object record can relate to multiple AI artifacts. Unlinking removes only the relationship, not the artifact.
Before you begin
- Your enterprise has purchased and enabled the required AI capabilities.
- You have permission to configure and publish the target object’s details page layout.
- The AI Artifact component is available for the target object, and the current user can view related AI Artifact records.
- An Agent has generated an available AI artifact. To select an artifact, ensure the artifact library has content that users can relate.
- You defined the component location, Visibility Conditions, source information, and available actions.
Task 1: Add the AI Artifact component to a details page layout
1. Open the object details page layout
Go to Setup > Object Management, select the target object, and open the details page layout that you want to configure.
2. Add the component
In AI Components in the layout designer, find AI Artifact. Drag it to the main area, sidebar, or a tab container.
3. Configure component properties
In the properties panel, configure these options for your business needs:
- Component Name: The default is AI Artifact. You can enter a more specific business name.
- Show Component Name: Controls whether the component title appears to users.
- Component Maximum Height: Limits the space used on the details page. Users can scroll within the component when it contains more content.
- Show Source Information: Displays the creator, generation time, file name, type, generation Agent, and other information.
- Button Configuration: Controls the visibility and order of actions such as download, unlink, forward, and full-screen view.
- Visibility Conditions: Controls visibility based on data status, Record Type, and other conditions.
[!IMPORTANT] Layout and Visibility Conditions only control the component entry point. Data permissions and component configuration also determine whether users can view artifacts.
4. Save and publish the layout
Save and publish the details page layout to apply the configuration to users assigned to that layout.
Task 2: Select a suitable display location
You can place the AI Artifact component in different areas based on the available page space:
- Sidebar: Uses a compact list by default. This location helps users quickly review artifact names and run actions.
- Main area: Provides a tiled preview of AI artifact content, making reports and charts easier to read.
- Tab container: Groups different artifact types. The tab name uses the component name by default.
[!NOTE] The main area and sidebar use different default views. When supported, users can switch views, and the system saves their preference for the component.
Task 3: Associate an AI artifact from an object details page
1. Open the target object record
Open the details page for the account, opportunity, or other object record that needs an AI artifact.
2. Select the relation entry point
In the AI Artifact component, select Associate AI Artifact. You can associate more artifacts even when the component already contains artifacts.
3. Select an artifact
Select the required content in the artifact selection window. Verify its name, type, creator, generation time, and generation Agent, then select OK.
After the relation succeeds, the component refreshes and displays the artifact. When no content is related, the component shows an empty state without artifact actions.
Task 4: Configure AI Artifact data permissions
Open Related Teams Data Permissions for the target object. Select a team role, and set AI Artifact permission to Read Only, Read/Write, or disabled.
Use these three configuration layers together to control visibility:
- Assign different details page layouts to different roles.
- Use Visibility Conditions to show the component only in specific business scenarios.
- Use Related Team Data Permissions to control whether users can view AI Artifact records.
Task 5: Associate an object record from an Agent
1. Start from the artifact library
Open the Agent’s Artifacts page. Select the Associate Object Record icon beside the target artifact.
2. Select an object record
In the relation window, select an object type. Search for and select the business records, then confirm the relation.
3. Associate a record from a conversation artifact card
After an Agent generates an artifact, select the relation entry point on its card. You can also describe the target object record in natural language.
After the relation succeeds, open the object’s details page to view the artifact in the AI Artifact component.
Task 6: View and manage related artifacts
On an object details page, use the actions that an administrator enables in the AI Artifact component:
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Download | Download file-based AI artifacts or export downloadable content. |
| Unlink | Remove only the relationship between the current object record and the AI artifact. This action does not delete the artifact. |
| Forward | Forward the AI artifact to other users. |
| Full-screen view | View the complete artifact in full screen or a large window, without the component’s maximum height restriction. |
When horizontal space is limited, some actions may appear under More. By default, the component sorts artifacts by generation time in descending order.
[!NOTE] If an artifact type does not support online preview, download it first. Preview and download support depend on the file type and enterprise version.
Expected results and verification
After you complete the configuration and publish the layout, verify the following:
- The AI Artifact component appears in the specified area with the correct name, maximum height, and Visibility Conditions.
- The sidebar, main area, or tab presentation matches the page design.
- Users can create a relation from an object details page or Agent artifact entry point and then view the artifact.
- Source information appears according to the configuration, including creator, generation time, file name, type, and generation Agent.
- The visibility, order, and behavior of download, unlink, forward, and full-screen actions are correct.
- After unlinking, the artifact leaves the current component but remains in the artifact library.
- Each role sees only artifacts allowed by its layout, Visibility Conditions, and related record permissions.
FAQ
| Issue | Recommended action |
|---|---|
| The AI Artifact component is unavailable | Verify that the enterprise enabled the capability and the component is available for the target object. Check layout configuration permission. |
| The component does not appear | Verify that the layout is published, the user is assigned to it, and Visibility Conditions are met. |
| No artifact is available after selecting the relation entry point | Verify that the artifact library contains artifacts and check the user’s artifact and target object record permissions. |
| A related artifact is not visible | Check related AI Artifact record permissions, the component’s layout, and whether the artifact remains valid. |
| Download, unlink, or other actions are missing | Check the component’s button configuration. When space is limited, also check the More menu. |
| An artifact cannot be previewed online | The file type might not support preview. Download it and open it in a local application. |
