This article describes the field types supported by Big Objects, preset fields, and the configuration notes and limitations when creating fields.
Overview
This document explains the characteristics of Big Object preset fields and the field types supported when creating fields (including single-line text, single select, Lookup Relationship, and over twenty other types). It also highlights the differences and limitations between Big Objects and regular objects in terms of field filtering and fuzzy match filtering.
Step 1: Preset fields
Big Object preset fields do not include the Lock Status option. All other preset fields are identical to those of regular objects.
Step 2: Create fields
Big Object field types supported: single-line text, multi-line text, single select, multi-select, Boolean, date/time, number, currency, phone, email, Lookup Relationship, Lookup Relationship multi-select, image, attachment, large attachment (stores a reference relationship), Department, Department (Multi-Select), Personnel, Personnel (Multi-Select), and external personnel.
Field types that do not support filtering: multi-line text, long text, Lookup Relationship, Lookup Relationship multi-select, image, and attachment.
Note:
- Field display settings are not supported.
- Object filtering does not support fuzzy-type filter conditions (such as contains, starts with, ends with, and similar filter operators).
- A Big Object can have a Lookup Relationship to a regular object, but Roll-Up Summary Fields on Big Objects are not supported.
- A regular object can have a Lookup Relationship to a Big Object, but Reference Fields to Big Objects are not supported.
