Configure a Web customer service site (limited release)
Create and publish a standalone Web customer service site where end users can submit work orders and query data.
Overview
A Web customer service site provides a standalone web portal for End User ShareService. End users can submit work orders and query data from this portal. The capability is available to enabled tenants in both the China and international editions, but it is currently in limited release. Tenants without access don’t see the standalone site settings.
Before you begin
- Confirm with your product or implementation contact that the Web customer service site is enabled for the tenant.
- Use an administrator account that can manage End User ShareService and standalone sites.
- Decide which work order submission and query entries the site must provide. Prepare an end-user test account and test data.
- Confirm that the test account can access the required business objects and data. Publishing a site doesn’t expand account permissions.
Create or select a standalone site
- On the Web, go to Field Service > System Settings > All Features > End User ShareService > Standalone Sites.
- If no site exists, select New and complete the basic site information. Otherwise, select the site that you want to configure.
- In the list, verify the site name, portal URL, description, and Web publishing status.

Design and publish the Web page
- Open the Web page designer for the standalone site.
- Configure the navigation, page components, and business entries that end users need for submission or queries.
- Review component properties and visibility. Confirm that the page shows only the content that you intend to expose.
- Save the page, and then select Publish.

Verify work order submission and queries
- Copy or open the portal URL from the standalone site list.
- Sign in to the published site with the end-user test account.
- Open the work order submission entry. Submit a test work order and confirm that the form can be submitted.
- Open a query entry. Confirm that the list and details show only data available to the test account.
- If the page includes online customer service or other components, verify each component separately. A visible component doesn’t confirm permissions for an unconfigured submission or query entry.
Expected results and verification
- The standalone site list shows the target site and its Web publishing status.
- End users can open the published Web page from the portal URL.
- The test account can submit a work order and can query only data within its permissions.
- After you change the page, end users see the update only after you publish it again.
Troubleshooting
- Standalone Sites isn’t available: Confirm that the limited-release capability is enabled and that the administrator has the required permissions.
- The portal URL doesn’t open or shows an older page: Check the Web publishing status. Save the changes and publish the page again.
- The site opens without submission or query entries: Add the required business entries to the Web page and publish it.
-
The test account can’t submit or view data: Check the business object, form, and account permissions. The site entry doesn’t bypass permission checks. ## Related topics
