Manage service BOM
Overview
A service BOM (SBOM) lists materials that a product may use in repair service. Use it as a repair reference and to select spare parts quickly. Do not use it to query the equipment’s actual configuration. It can serve material requisition, spare parts requests, and spare parts consumption at the same time.
Before you begin
- Spare parts Advanced mode is on and new spare parts consumption is in use.
- CPQ is enabled. Both conditions are required.
- To use a product exploded view, also purchase OCR Text Recognition Resource Pack - General Recognition (High-Precision Position).
1. Enable service BOM
- In the spare parts management menu, go to Service BOM.
-
After prerequisites are met, enable service BOM as the page instructs.

After service BOM is enabled, it cannot be turned off.
2. Create a service BOM
- Open the list in Spare Parts Management > Service BOM.
- The list shows only records where BOM Category = Configuration BOM and BOM Purpose = Service BOM.
-
Click New. When you create from the service BOM entry, BOM category and purpose are fixed to those values and cannot be changed.

- Add details such as parent product, spare part product, quantity, and drawing number, then save the BOM.
3. Use service BOM in material requisition and requests
Pick up parts from a service BOM
- When creating a material requisition order, click Add from Service BOM.
- If no work order is entered, the dialog shows all configuration BOMs whose purpose is Service BOM.
-
After you enter a work order, the system matches service BOMs in this order: multiple devices on the work order → single device → product.

Submit a spare parts request from a service BOM
- When creating a spare parts request, click Add from Service BOM.
-
If no work order is entered, all matching service BOMs are shown. After you enter a work order, matching follows the device product order.

4. Use service BOM in spare parts consumption
- Create spare parts consumption, select Spare Parts Inventory as the source, then select the New Part Consumption Warehouse.
- Click Add from Service BOM and match service BOMs by the product of devices on the work order.
- You can select multiple service BOM products at once, then click OK.
-
The system matches records in the New Part Consumption Warehouse whose available quantity is greater than 0, and fills the new-part field in consumption details.

5. Configure and use a product exploded view
-
In Spare Parts Management > Service BOM, go to Product Exploded View. You can enable it only after purchasing the OCR resource pack.

-
On the service BOM details page, click Configure Exploded View in the upper-right.

-
When remaining OCR recognitions are enough, the system recognizes exploded-view part numbers. In service BOM details, select the matching number in Drawing Number.

-
When adding parts from a service BOM on a request or similar document: selecting a part on the left exploded view selects the product on the right. Selecting a product on the right highlights the matching part on the left.

Expected results and verification
- The service BOM list shows only configuration BOMs whose purpose is Service BOM.
- Material requisition orders and spare parts requests can match service BOMs by work-order device product.
- In Advanced mode, when consuming from spare parts inventory, selecting a service BOM product can auto-fill available stock records.
- Exploded-view parts and service BOM products can be selected and highlighted in both directions.
Notes
- Service BOM is not for querying equipment configuration. Use equipment asset BOM or another dedicated capability for configuration.
- Service BOM cannot be turned off after enablement. Confirm CPQ, Advanced mode, and new consumption before you enable it.
- When new parts are auto-filled from a service BOM, the system matches only records in the selected consumption warehouse whose available stock is greater than 0.
