-
Prerequisites: Prepare test accounts, products, and price data.
Steps
Multi-level ordering
Channel merchant
- In the account list or detail, select Create Channel Merchant to create a same-name channel merchant record (Partner object). The create page fills the account name automatically. Complete other fields as needed.
After you create a channel merchant, the system automatically:
Creates a channel Warehouse and presets a default Warehouse for the channel merchant (channel merchant partner + Warehouse)
- Automatically creates a channel Warehouse in the Warehouse object
- Automatically creates a record in Channel inbound warehouse settings, which presets the default Warehouse for that channel merchant. Later channel inventory Sell-in uses this default Warehouse.
- In Order Management, find the Channel Merchant menu. In the list or detail, select Enable external account to create Channel Users for the merchant and assign External Roles.
After you create an External Organizations record, the system writes the external enterprise ID into the Warehouse and account external Related Teams. The channel merchant can then view its Warehouse and accounts in Channel Distribution.
More notes:
- Channel merchant is a Record Type of Partner. Creating a channel merchant creates a partner. Because the channel merchant also orders, it must Associate an Associated Account record.
Channel trading relationship
- Trading relationship types
Channel trading relationships have two types: Organization direct supply and Channel supply. One account can have multiple trading relationships, such as organization direct supply from the brand owner and channel supply from another dealer.
- Organization direct supply: the brand owner supplies a direct account. The preset Organization direct supply can be disabled but cannot be deleted.
- Channel supply: a dealer supplies an indirect account.
With these two supply types, brand owners can maintain channel trading relationships flexibly and improve channel operating efficiency.
When a salesperson creates a direct account, the system automatically creates an Organization direct supply trading relationship. It cannot be deleted or disabled manually. When the account is deleted or merged, the trading relationship is deleted or merged too.
After a channel merchant enables an account and creates a channel account, the system automatically creates a Channel supply trading relationship. It is Enabled by default and can be adjusted.
More notes:
- A channel-supply trading relationship is generated from the account name and partner on the account record. Later partner changes on the account do not affect the trading relationship.
- You can edit the automatically generated trading relationship.
- Other trading relationship operations
When an account has multiple suppliers, you can create a channel trading relationship manually. Channel relationships can be deleted and restored. When a brand owner creates a trading relationship manually, the system adds the channel merchant External Organizations record to external Related Teams.
Use a test account to confirm the saved settings take effect on the related pages and records.
Undo or roll back
Return to the configuration entry, restore the previous switch, layout, or rule values, and re-verify with a test account.
