Configure opportunity registration and the sales process


Opportunity registration and stage progression standardize partner follow-up, help prevent channel conflict, and improve win rates. The upstream enterprise can also review partner opportunity distribution and performance in its CRM.

Before you start

[!IMPORTANT] - Confirm that your account can configure the Opportunity object, approval workflows, and sales processes. - Confirm that the required roles and Partner Connect application are enabled.

Configure opportunity registration

  1. Define the project information that partners must provide.
  2. Configure duplicate-check rules and the registration process on the Opportunity object.
  3. Add upstream approval steps.
  4. Define the opportunity status after approval.
  5. Publish the process and test it with a partner role.

Configure sales stages

  1. Derive the partner sales stages from successful sales cases.
  2. Define the required tasks and completion criteria for each stage.
  3. Set the stage progression order.
  4. Enable interconnected steps for stages that require both upstream and downstream users.
  5. Publish the stage progression process.

Verify the configuration

  • Creating an opportunity as a partner starts the registration process.
  • After approval, the partner can complete stage tasks and advance the opportunity.
  • The upstream enterprise can review opportunity distribution, amounts, stage-specific win rates, and the sales funnel.
