Opportunity registration and stage progression standardize partner follow-up, help prevent channel conflict, and improve win rates. The upstream enterprise can also review partner opportunity distribution and performance in its CRM.
Before you start
[!IMPORTANT] - Confirm that your account can configure the Opportunity object, approval workflows, and sales processes. - Confirm that the required roles and Partner Connect application are enabled.
Configure opportunity registration
- Define the project information that partners must provide.
- Configure duplicate-check rules and the registration process on the Opportunity object.
- Add upstream approval steps.
- Define the opportunity status after approval.
- Publish the process and test it with a partner role.
Configure sales stages
- Derive the partner sales stages from successful sales cases.
- Define the required tasks and completion criteria for each stage.
- Set the stage progression order.
- Enable interconnected steps for stages that require both upstream and downstream users.
- Publish the stage progression process.

Verify the configuration
- Creating an opportunity as a partner starts the registration process.
- After approval, the partner can complete stage tasks and advance the opportunity.
- The upstream enterprise can review opportunity distribution, amounts, stage-specific win rates, and the sales funnel.
