Design a dashboard (web)
Use the dashboard designer to arrange Web content, set the global display effect, and configure jump or linkage for charts.
Before You Begin
- You have created a dashboard and entered the designer; see Create a Dashboard.
- You have prepared the preset charts or custom charts to add.
- Only CRM administrators or reports administrators can create Enterprise dashboards.
Understand the Designer Layout
The designer consists of the following areas:
- Component area (left): Select the components supported by the dashboard.
- Settings area (right): Set the properties and styles of the global view or the currently selected component.
- Action area (top center): Perform undo or redo operations.
- Canvas area (bottom center): Drag components into the canvas; after selecting a component, adjust its display effect on the right.
Set Global Styles
Switch to global settings on the right, then configure the styles.
- Select a preset theme. The system provides 20 preset themes; you can also select Follow system theme to match the system’s personalized theme.
- Adjust the component spacing as needed.
- Set the title, including the title name, whether to display the title or the enterprise logo, font color and size, title position, and border style.
- Set the overall background, including the border style, background style, and color.
Set Global Properties
In global properties, complete the following configurations according to your display needs:
- Include former users: Controls whether the Owner or Primary Department in the data range of charts in the dashboard includes former users. The dashboard-level default is to exclude them. You can also set this for a single chart, and the setting applies only to the Owner and Primary Department fields.
- Carousel settings: Off by default. You can choose a horizontal or vertical carousel and set the carousel speed. The carousel follows this setting in full-screen and demo modes.
- Refresh interval: Choose a scheduled refresh interval of 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours. It takes effect after the dashboard is full screen.
- Data dashboard JS plugin: Insert a JS plugin as needed.
Add and Configure Components
Drag the components you need from the component area on the left into the canvas, select a component, and configure its properties and styles on the right. Available components include:
- Global filter and custom filter;
- Charts;
- Carousel;
- Rich text;
- Tab container.
Chart components can add preset charts or custom charts; a dashboard supports up to 20 charts. A carousel supports up to 10 images. The tab container supports adding, deleting, and reordering tabs.
The fields, styles, and advanced properties available for each component are subject to the component reference article. This article explains only the common configuration flow of the designer.
Global Filter
The global filter includes two filter conditions: personnel and date. Both are enabled and unlocked by default and apply to all charts. In the properties, you can set the applicable charts, locking, chart-level filter configuration, and overriding the user-saved default values.
The Goal Rule filter can be configured only by CRM administrators, reports administrators, and goal rule administrators when editing a dashboard. You can adjust the visibility, display order, and default values of goal rules.
Global filter styles include title and background settings, with support for the name, title display, font, border style, and other configurations.
Custom Filter
The custom filter sets custom filter conditions for a dashboard. You can configure the filter field, default value, applicable charts, and filter name for certain field types.
Chart
The chart component adds preset charts or custom charts; a dashboard supports up to 20 charts.
Chart styles include the title, background, and chart color scheme, and you can sync the styles to similar components.
Chart components support renaming, editing the chart, deleting, and configuring jump or linkage.
Jump Settings
In the jump configuration, select the dashboard to jump to. You can select Pass values to pass the current dashboard’s filter conditions to the target dashboard.
Linkage Settings
Charts that can initiate linkage support single-dimension and dual-dimension charts. Linked charts can be charts on the same subject, and so on.
Carousel
The carousel dynamically displays image information in a dashboard and supports up to 10 images.
Rich Text
Use rich text to explain data in detail, provide operating instructions, present personalized content, facilitate cross-department communication, and integrate analysis reports.
Rich text styles support title and background configuration.
Tab Container
The tab container holds components such as charts in one container and lets you view them by tab.
Tab container styles support title, background, and tab position configuration.
Configure Chart Jump
The rich text component and the chart component support jump. Select a component and enter the jump configuration:
- Select a jump target. You can select a Personal dashboard visible to you, other than the current dashboard.
- Select Pass values to pass the current dashboard’s global filter and custom filter conditions to the corresponding conditions in the target dashboard. If there is no matching condition, the passed value is empty.
- Set the default jump method: choose the chart’s own drill-down or view details, or jump to the target dashboard.
Configure Chart Linkage
Charts that can initiate linkage show a linkage entry. In the linkage settings:
- Select the linked charts. Charts that initiate linkage support single-dimension and dual-dimension charts. Optional linked charts include charts on the same subject, as well as reports, report cross tabs, and joined reports that contain the chart’s subject object.
- Set the default linkage method: - Linkage: Prioritizes the linkage effect; - Drill-down / View details: Performs the chart’s own drill-down or view details; - Drill-down and linkage: Drills down the initiating chart and links the linked charts at the same time.
Expected Results
You have completed the basic Web dashboard design, including global styles, component configuration, chart jump, and linkage settings. Save the dashboard when you finish the design.
