Credit management overview
Credit Management sets a credit limit for an account or distributor, then occupies, validates, repays, and releases that limit during transactions.
Overview
This page describes the credit objects, process, and relationship with customer fund accounts.
Business value
- Control credit risk on orders, shipments, or receivables so a transaction cannot continue when the system shows Insufficient Balance.
- Separate formal credit from temporary credit. Temporary credit must have a validity period.
- Keep occupancy details aligned with document flow instead of voiding occupancy records manually.
Architecture and Business Process
| Concept | Description |
|---|---|
| Customer credit grant | The document that increases a credit limit. It supports approval, edit, and void. It can be formal credit or temporary credit. |
| Occupancy rule | Defines which documents occupy credit, when they occupy it, which field is used, and how strictly the system checks. |
| Credit Control | A switch on the CRM account. Occupancy takes effect only after this field is enabled. |
| Credit occupancy details | Records the occupying document, Occupied Amount, and date. The occupying document and amount change as the document flows. |
Relationship with customer fund accounts
Enabling Credit Management checks for a Customer Fund Account license. If that license is missing, the system prompts you to enable it first.
Business Process
- An administrator enables Credit Management and configures occupancy rules.
- A user creates a customer credit grant for an Existing Account and associates occupancy rules, then enables Credit Control on the account record if needed.
- When an order, shipment, or receivable is submitted, the system checks and occupies credit by rule.
- If the balance is not enough, the system blocks the submit or shows a second prompt, depending on check strength.
- After a payment is posted to the credit account, occupancy is released and the credit balance is restored.
