System automatically matches priority prices
Learn how the system selects a final price when an Account matches multiple Price Books.
Overview
An Account may meet the conditions of multiple Price Books. The system does not select a price randomly; it automatically matches the final price according to the Priority rules configured by the administrator. If no explicit Priority is maintained, the system also uses Last Modified On to determine the order.
Before you start
[!IMPORTANT] - Role permissions: You need view permission for the target business document. - Prerequisite configuration: The administrator has maintained multiple Price Books and set Priority for some of them. - Dependencies: The current Account, Product, and other pricing conditions must meet multiple Price Books before the system checks Priority.
How the system determines the price
The system usually determines the final price in this order:
- Identify the Price Books matched by the current Account.
- Check whether the Product, date, quantity, and Unit meet each detail rule.
- Among candidate Price Books that meet the conditions, use the Price Book with the higher Price Book Priority.
- If no explicit Priority is configured, use Last Modified On to determine the order.
What users see
After the system completes the calculation, you usually see:
- One final matched Price Book automatically filled in on the business document.
- The Price Book Price is displayed as the returned price.
- The Price Book Name, Details, Discount, and Price displayed together.
- If the administrator enables Enforce Best Price, you usually cannot manually switch to another Price Book.
Recommendations
- If the Unit Price differs from expectations, first check whether multiple Price Books matched.
- Check the matched Price Book Name along with the Sales Unit Price.
- If you suspect a Priority issue, ask the administrator to review the configuration.
