Add from price book details

Learn how to select Products directly from Price Book Details in a business document.

Overview

In addition to adding Products from a Product list, some business scenarios use Price Book Details as the Product selection basis. This approach shows which Products are maintained in a Price Book and reduces the risk of selecting the wrong Product.

Operation scenario

When you know which Price Book an Account uses or want to select Products from a specific Price Book, add Products from Price Book Details. You see only the Products and prices in that Price Book, so the selection scope is more focused.
The Price Book Details use the configured Pricing Rule to determine the returned price.

Before you start

[!IMPORTANT] - Role permissions: You need view and edit permissions for the target business document. - Prerequisite configuration: The administrator has configured the Price Book, Price Book Details, and applicable scope. - Dependencies: The current Account must match an available Price Book before you can select Products from Price Book Details.

Procedure

  1. Select Account Name in the business document.
  2. Open the Order Products section.
  3. Select a Product from the Sellable Product scope displayed by Price Book Details.
  4. Enter the quantity and Unit as needed.
  5. View the Price Book fields returned by the system.
  6. Save the document.

When to use this method

  • An Account has a dedicated Price Book: Add directly from the dedicated Price Book for an Account to ensure the correct price.
  • Quickly locate a pricing plan: If a Price Book contains a carefully selected Product list, adding from it helps you find the Product faster.
  • Seasonal promotions: Add from a promotional Price Book to use the promotional price.

Price behavior after adding

After you add a Product, the price fields in the Order are filled in automatically just as they are when you add from Products:
  • Price Book Name: The Price Book you selected.
  • Price Book Price: The price field returned from the selected Price Book.
  • Price Book Selling Price: The price configured in that Price Book.
  • Price Book Discount: The discount configured in that Price Book.
  • Price Book Selling Price: The actual price after discount.

Notes

  • When selecting a Price Book, you can see only Price Books that you are authorized to access, according to the applicable organization configured by the administrator.
  • If you select the wrong Price Book, you can switch it later unless the administrator has enabled Enforce Best Price.
  • A Price Book may not include every Product available for sale. If you cannot find a Product, use Add from Products.
